Transformative vision and mission

Throughout the nearly 125-year history of USC Gould, our law school has served as a leader and innovator in legal education.

We pioneered the concepts of public interest law programs, experiential and clinical learning, and interdisciplinary legal education. Today, we are proud to be an institution with local roots and a global reach.

At USC Gould, we recognize that the law not only shapes all areas of society, but also touches every aspect of the workplace, no matter the industry or role. In response to the ever-evolving professional landscape, the Gould School has expanded its educational mission and experienced significant change and growth.

In addition to strengthening our flagship JD program, the law school has actively worked to establish new academic programs that broaden the knowledge of law for professionals across the country and around the world. From our LLM programs and specialized master’s degrees, to graduate certificates and our Bachelor of Science in Legal Studies, USC Gould is educating more students than ever before — helping prepare talented and diverse individuals, across fields and sectors, to achieve their career goals. Within that same time, the law school has also deepened its scholarly expertise, adding award-winning researchers and educators among our renowned faculty.

In this era of transformative growth, USC Gould is dedicated to transforming its physical facilities, to better serve its vibrant community and improve the learning experience for all.

Where student-centered meets state-of-the-art

Significantly expanding our physical space, the new six-level building provides USC Gould with four additional floors totaling 55,000 square feet, directly west of the current Musick Law Building, which will also continue to serve the students, faculty and staff. (The sixth floor will house offices and classrooms for the USC Alfred E. Mann School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences; and the fifth floor is not yet assigned.) The new facility is primarily student-serving, with its interior devoted to classrooms, gathering spaces and functions that support and enhance the student learning experience. A signature main entrance and gathering place on the ground floor provide a welcoming gateway for students, faculty, staff and visitors.
